The Types Of Situations I Typically Work With
The sorts of settings in which I work are wide-ranging—however they almost always involve turning people’s thinking into action.
Perhaps you’re involved in a project team that hasn’t worked together before—but it needs to quickly come together to create comprehensive action plans and allocate tight, binding responsibilities. Or perhaps you need to conduct focus groups. Or maybe a conference or training program needs to be debriefed.
Regardless of the setting, my process is ideal for smoothly facilitating the group activities and generating very concrete outcomes.
- Generating ideas and collecting opinions…
My approach to facilitation allows everyone in the room to immediately participate without the customary “loosening up” period.
The process ensures productivity and effectiveness is high. It makes it easy for participants to quickly change gears from having personal opinions to seeing where their opinions fit with the opinions of others in the room. Issues are always efficiently defined and resolved using a reflective, creative, collegiate approach.
Not only will sensitive issues be addressed and resolved, you’ll also build loyalty and commitment because everyone in the room contributes and feels heard.
After rapidly capturing all participants’ views, getting agreement on issues, and then deciding which items need to receive the highest priority, we’ll work on the issues that need actioning.
Detailed, prioritised action plans will be developed. From there, plenty of forward movement will be created and you can be confident that our conversations will be turned into positive action.
Your participants will experience an efficient, constructive, fulfilling and action-oriented meeting.
What Is It Like To Work With Me?
-
I’m results-oriented. It’s my natural style to focus on results; that is the results, the outcomes that you want. When I notice that the group is doing something that isn’t supporting themselves in getting those results, we’ll talk about it. And then the group can decide, with a real consciousness around its decision, what result it wants and what its prepared to do to get it.
-
I’m organised. The facilitation process I use is an extension of my own natural preferences which focuses on following a consistent system while remaining very sensitive to the needs of individual participants. This soft approach within firm boundaries consistently produces immensely satisfying results for my clients.
-
I’m authentic. I’ll be honest in our discussions. I’ll tell the truth, as I see it from where I sit. It’s sometimes much harder for people who work together to initiate discussing sensitive topics. I think that it’s one of the most important parts of my job. And because you know that I’m “on your side”, you’ll hear the truth as supportive, helpful and encouraging.
The Uniqueness Of My Approach
- I use a proprietary facilitation technology. My approach to group facilitation is not just a matter of style, technique and personality. The great results I have produced are also due to a special facilitation system using cards, charts and boards. The unique combination of my own style and this proprietary “hardware” provides the structure, guidelines, focus, boundaries and idea-protection that allows full and equal participation of all parties, full and equal consideration of all issues and rapid categorisation and prioritisation of outcomes.
- Formally and informally, I’ve been studying people for many years. I know a lot about how they work—and I continue to learn about the latest developments in the field, which of course helps me be an effective facilitator.
- I have an impressive track record of results. In two decades of corporate human resource development work, the individuals, teams and groups I’ve worked with have achieved results that they’ve been thrilled with; results that have had their organizations coming back for more.
Now that you have a better idea about the results you can expect by working with me, and more about my approach, next go to the Group Facilitation Described page to learn about the specific service I offer.
