This Executive Team Wasn’t Really A Team At All…

The “team” worked well in their own functional areas, but they didn’t really think or behave like an Executive Team at all. And that cost them and their business, probably way more than they imagined.

Their silo mentality negatively impacted productivity, morale and teamwork, not just at the top of their organization where they sat, but right through it.

I met with each of them individually, and then we got together as a group to define how they needed to think and behave for the organization to experience the benefits of heightened productivity, teamwork and morale—then they made a number of very specific commitments to action.

Today their thinking and their behaviours are radically different. They’re a team now. They look back appreciatively at our Executive Team get together, knowing that the work they did on that day was fundamental in shaping the effectiveness they’ve created in their team and consequently right through their organization. Not surprisingly, they’re very happy with the organization’s productivity, morale and teamwork too.

“How Do We Get Agreement On What To Do With Our Climate Survey Results?” Was The Question They Came To Me With…

This group of 20 or so leaders were short of time—and didn’t want a “talk fest”. They wanted to be sure they would have a candid discussion that resulted in clear agreements about what they would do, who would do it, and by when.

We arranged to get together. We had an efficient discussion, in which everyone in the room felt heard. Sensitive issues were tabled, and the way forward cleared. We considered how impactful each potential action would be and how easy each would be to implement.

After only a few hours they were thrilled that they’d been able to agree on what actions were the most critical ones, who would champion each one, and what time frames they’d target.
