Are you looking for an exceptionally well-credentialed, highly experienced, executive, leader, outplacement or team coach—one with an impressive track record—to help you meet or exceed your performance goals?

  • For around 20 years I’ve been working with people in organizations, helping them make the important shifts necessary for them to reach their desired outcomes. Sometimes this has been in a group setting and sometimes one-on-one.

  • My clients have included leaders in some of the big-name concerns in Australia (examples are Amgen Australia, AMP, Avaya, Baxter Healthcare, BHP, BlueScope, Defence Department, James Hardie, Lucent Technologies, ResMed, Rheem Water Heater and NSW Health). You’ll normally find me working across the manufacturing, marketing, finance, IT and services industries, as well as state or federal government departments. I’ve worked closely with scores of very senior leaders in organizations, PhD’s, MBA’s, medical doctors and other highly qualified people.

  • You’ve heard of the saying “If all you have is a hammer, then everything looks like a nail”? I have a host of “tools” in my tool kit, not just a hammer. The breadth of my experience helps me be sensitive to your important issues, understand your underlying needs, and use the best approach, tool, and technique for your unique situation. Prior to founding my own organization in 1989, I was the NSW Human Resource Development Manager and a Partner with Australia’s largest firm of corporate psychologists. Before developing my expertise in learning and development, I worked with that firm in executive selection and other organizational consulting areas.

  • Late in 1998, I made the decision to specialize in one-on-one coaching, and a couple of years later added Team Coaching to the mix of services I offer. Now, apart from facilitating some group meetings, I spend all of my time working with executives, leaders and teams who are dissatisfied because their performance isn’t equal to their potential.

My Guiding Beliefs and Values

Some of my relevant guiding beliefs and values are that:

  • We work best when our behaviours are in alignment with our values. Therefore one of the things you’ll notice we’ll do quite quickly should we work together is to figure out what is important to you. From there we then only ever consider options that are aligned with your values. Travelling along the road to success is much easier when there’s absolutely no conflict between your behaviours and your values; in fact it becomes a faster, flatter journey when you have this awareness, this consciousness, around the decisions you need to make.

  • People produce better results, and they enjoy their ride more too, when they have a silent partner to work alongside them. Whether it’s sharing a success or working through a challenge, having a silent partner to bounce ideas off, sometimes to get an opinion from, makes travelling the road to success smoother, faster, less stressful and more pleasurable. With the confidentiality framework we have in place, it feels safe to discuss things that cannot be discussed in other forums.

  • Teaching a person to fish will work best. If I gave out fish, they’d have this meal. But what about the next? Because I’ll help people be a great “fishermen”, they have the resources they need to put fish on the table at every meal.

  • It’s usually not “whether or not a person can or can’t do something”. The real question is “whether or not they want to do it”. I buy the concept that if it has been done, it can be done, and if it can be done, you can do it. The only question that then remains is “do you want to do it?” For example, personally, I don’t want to run a marathon. I don’t want to do the amount of training, nor put the stress on my body, that it would take to complete a marathon in a good time. I know that I could run a marathon though.

  • I think that achieving our goal really comes down to what choices we’re prepared to make, not whether or not we’re able to achieve our goal. And there’s no right or wrong around this. There’s just what choice we make.

Why can I assist you to craft lasting results?

  • I undertook studies in psychology and allied disciplines at undergraduate and post-graduate levels at Macquarie University and University of Technology, Sydney. In 1995 I graduated from Anthony Robbins’ Mastery University and then completed his Leadership Program. My formal training was furthered when I became a Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). This education and training expanded my skill base and gave me access to a vast range of developmental interventions.

  • Also, I’ve completed the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Professional Qualifying Program. And I’m Step II Expanded Interpretive Report and BarOn EQ-i certified—again providing me with additional diagnostic and intervention options that will help you achieve your outcomes.

  • Since 1998, I‘ve completed a number of formal coach training programs, both U.S. based and Australian. My extensive professional coach training, my proficiency with the International Coach Federation’s (ICF’s) coaching competencies, and my commitment to being accountable to coaching ethics and standards set forth by the ICF, all contributed to my being awarded the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential in 2001.

  • To keep me in touch with the best practice of executive, leader, career and team coaching, and to continue to contribute to the professionalism of Executive Coaching, I’m currently one of 9 coaches, internationally, on the independent ICF Ethics Review Board. In 2002/3 I was the Director of Professional Standards on ICF’s Australasian Board. I’ve also contributed a number of years to the international Credentialing and Continuing Education Committee.
